You know you're living in a magical, wonderous world when you realize that somewhere out there, teams of engineers are seeding deserts with disposable diaper absorbers in order to create new, expensive, ultra elite communities where the sands can sprout trees.

Yes, the same polymers developed to capture baby waste is also being used to provide a method to build acres of lush landscaping where it has no business being. You might be thinking, "Hey, why don't they do the same thing in places where there's a drought to feed the starving masses instead of using it to make sure the wealthy few have ficus?"

Because it costs too much to actually do something useful, silly! This may be a magical, wondrous world, but it's also owned by someone with more money than you.
