The Republican majority in Congress is working fast and diligently to rework how the Congress works in order to favor their own party, which probably surprises no one but, um, maybe you'll want to write your Congressperson anyway, just to bitch about it.
First there was the "let's allow people indicted for felonies to keep their positions, anyway!" thing that already passed. Next was the "let's ignore senority and just hand out committee assignments -- and their budgetary and law-making powers -- to whomever we want to. As long as they're on our side and will vote like we want them to!" rules change, which means Majority Leader Bill Frist now pretty much rules the entire Congress.
And, finally, there's the new, yet-to-pass but it's only a metter of time "the filibuster is a time-waster and the minority opinion is useless and they should shut up and understand that our judges are always right and the Supreme Court will be the one we want, period."
And it's only two weeks since the election, kids.
