Dr. Alfred Kinsey published “Sexual Behavior in the Human Male” in 1948. He was called a pervery, a menace and (gasp!) a communist. In the almost 60 years since, little has changed.
The study of human sexuality remains an almost underground profession, with researchers presenting findings in a sort of coded language. Last year, Congress nearly shut down several sex studies, surprise surprise, and opposition is growing stranger rather than weaker as time marches on.
You can joke about pedophilia in the Catholic Church, but you can’t talk about why it occurs in an effort to stop it.
