Use to be all you needed to show off to your geek friends was the most RAM, or the biggest monitor, or the smallest cell phone. Now, it’s all about the style.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, there will still be all the new, fun, fantastic gadgets we crave, but with Apple leading the charge and Sony not far behind, the look and feel of those gadgets is as important (if not more so) than their usability. Tech has gone mainstream and today’s user demands more than a beige box with wires sticking out the back.

And the iPod continues to lead its own race toward lifestyle domination. Look for iPod inspired sweaters, jackets and socks, as well as add-ons to help your slick white brick become a flashlight, a laser pointer, a video player or a voice notation recorder.
