My thoughts exactly

I must admit that Peter Dubuque seems to hit the nail on the head in this. The Republicans are outrageous in their total disregard for the Constitution not to mention the hard won good will that accumulated world wide towards the United States through decades of diplomacy and cash support, prior to the election of George W. Bush. Even the fear I felt while his father was in office is minimal compared to my discomfort now. I grow more embarrassed to be an American with each passing day.

But, I ask, where are the Democrats? I have more warm regard for Republican John McCain than I do for any of the Democrats save Ted Kennedy. I find it hard to believe that the Republicans in their greed and avarice are not providing ample ammunition for Democrats to start investigating and exposing what I suspect to be sinister wrong doings on a magnificent scale. But the Democrats seem to have their heads firmly planted up their own posteriors to be of any use to anyone, let alone this amazing nation known as the United States.

The only thing that keeps me from following Peter’s lead in disowning the Democrats and joining the Independents is the knowledge that splintering those in opposition to the Republicans simply strengthens their hold.

Oh how I long for the happy carefree days when the biggest worldwide headline was that Monica Lewinsky’s mom did not know of a good dry cleaners in the neighborhood.
