Microcyn looks, smells and tastes like water. It’s made of water and salt. But it’s formulated in such a way that an ion imbalance in the substance kills bacteria, viruses and spores so effectively that it appears to speed healing of burns, wounds and diabetic ulcers.

The ion-depleted water ruptures cell walls in single-celled organisms so that it destroys them utterly. But in multicellular creatures like you and me, the water can’t entirely surround our cells so it has no negative impact.

The stuff is already being tested in Mexico and India, and the California company that developed Microcyn says testing in the U.S. will start in June for preoperative disinfectant use, dental applications and burn and diabetic treatments.
