A Washington state law restricting the sale of “violent” video games (as if there’s any other kind) from “minors” (as if they don’t already see enough violence in school anyway) has been ruled unlawful because it violates the free=-speech rights of, um, somebody or other. The video game designers? Maybe?
U.S. District Judge Robert Lasnik said, “Yo, you can’t go loading in, like, Simpsons Hit ‘N’ Run and not, like, y’know, Hit ‘N’ Run on people. It’s just not the same, like, game or whatever.”
The bill would have fined anyone selling a violent game to a minor US$500. It was written by democratic state Rep. Mary Lou Dickerson, who has apparently never watched children playing and believes they exist in some sort of make-believe bubble filled with unicorns and balloons and monkeys making ice cream cones.
