If you’re still considering running out and buying one of Nintendo’s new handhelds, the DS, you’d better start running a lot faster. Sales of the gamer are running much faster than anticipated, and after selling 500,000 of the suckers in one week, there won’t be any in stores “within days.”
The Nintendo DS launched November 21st for $150 each, aiming to beat Sony’s PlayStation Portable (the PSP will also play movies and music as well as games) to the punch and stave off its upcoming onslaught in 2005.
Their “old machine,” the GameBoy Advance, also managed to sell 800,000 units over the U.S. holiday week.
