Microsoft has launched a beta weblogging site called MSN Spaces. Anyone with a free HotMail or MSN Messenger account can now publish their own words under Microsoft’s auspices—something Microsoft employees themselves have been doing for a while now.
Rather than go the usual Buy Don’t Build route, MS has erected its own blogging site to counter Google’s Blogger and AOL’s whatever the hell it is they do over there behind that wall of weirdness. Early reports suggest that the site is suffering a few bugs (i.e. “wow, it’s incredibly…sllloooowwwww”) but that it offers no eye-popping new features, unless posting from Outlook is something you’ve been itching to do.
