In order to stop their glacier from melting under the threat of global warming, the Gemsstock ski resort in Switzerland is wrapping their ice in an $83,000 polyester blanket.
Glaciers are the latest endangered species — even though, yeas, they’re not actually a species but we feel that anthropomorphing anything makes it cuter! — under the harsh sun and ozone holes and whatever else the hell we’re doing to the sky. Alpine glaciers lose 1% of their mass every year, so the resort believes others will need to blanket their glaiers to save them, too.
No doubt the glacier blanket store hopes so, too.
